How to Get Your Braces Off in Time
Keep Up with Checkups!
Make sure that you continue to see your general dentist every six months for routine checkups that help keep your mouth healthy. Seeing your dentist during orthodontic treatment is often missed! When you go to your TW Orthodontist, they will not be professionally cleaning your teeth. Staying on top of these appointments will help keep your teeth healthy throughout your orthodontic journey.
Good Oral Hygiene Habits are Key!
Follow Your Orthodontist’s Instructions!
This is a biggie – if your doc tells you that you need to wear rubber bands or other appliances, follow their instructions exactly. This plays a huge part in staying in line of your orthodontic timeline!
Choose Foods and Drinks Carefully!
Certain snacks are known to break brackets, which will delay being braces-free! Try to stay away from granola bars, popcorn, hard candy, gum and other crunchy foods. Sugary drinks like sodas or energy drinks can also lead to decay that will lengthen your treatment time and cause permanent damage.
Wear Your Mouth Guard!
If you play sports or have hobbies where there is a chance you could be hit in the face or mouth, wear your mouth guard. Injuries that damage your braces can make treatment times longer.
Don’t Chew with Braces!
Don’t chew on pencils, ice or hard candies. This can cause damage that might cause a delay in treatment time. This is a great reason to break those bad habits!
