Meet the TW Orthodontics Team: Dr. Brett Wood
TW Orthodontics wants you to meet the team! We sat down with Dr. Brett Wood and asked him some questions to get to know him better. Check out his interview below!
Q: How would you spend an ideal day off with no financial limits?
A: Working outside. I enjoy my job, but I’m always indoors. So when I’m off, I want to be outdoors.
Q: What gets you up in the morning?
A: My wife pushing me out of bed saying GO MAKE SOME MONEY – kidding – seriously, the moments where we get to show a patient their before and after photos. That “WOW” is what keeps me coming in to work.
Q: Did you have braces growing up? If yes, how old were you and what did you dislike the most?
A: Dr. Speed was my mentor and my orthodontist growing up. I had braces with him when I was 12 and went on to later purchase his practice. I had to wear headgear and that was not fun. Luckily, technology has advanced and we no longer use headgear as a primary means of correcting bites.
Q: What is your favorite hobby and why?
A: Farming/gardening. I like watching things grow. There are lots of similarities to orthodontics. It takes time but watching a smile develop is very rewarding.
Q: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?
A: Selma, Alabama. It will always be home.
Q: Do you have children/pets? If so, what do they do that make you smile?
A: No pets but three children – Aimee (5), George (3) and Charlie (3 months). My daughter likes to dance and my son likes to play outside. It makes me smile when they ask me to do either of those with them. My son Charlie still poops in his pants and that does not make me smile.
Q: What is your favorite part of your job and why?
A: Same as above… showing a patient their before pictures as we are either removing the braces or nearing the end of treatment and they get to see the huge change. That “wow” moment is what makes it fun.
Q: If you had to pick one song to be your life theme song or “walk out song” what would it be?
A: Life theme song: Country Boy Can Survive, Hank Jr.; Walkout Song: Hells Bells, AC/DC.
Q: What is your favorite local restaurant or place to go? What do you like to do/eat?
A: Depends on where I’m working. Selma – Hancocks ribs; Montgomery – Derks fried chicken; Andalusia – Hooks bbq – ribs or chicken sandwich.
