What is Invisalign® and how does it work?
Interested in orthodontic treatment but worried about having braces? Luckily, innovations in orthodontic appliances mean that you don’t have to compromise on your oral health! At TW Orthodontics we offer Invisalign, an inconspicuous alternative to traditional braces!
Invisalign is made up of a series of custom-made plastic aligners tailored to your teeth. Your orthodontist will create a plan to straighten or adjust your teeth and provide you with the nearly invisible aligners to begin your treatment. Each set of aligners are worn over a period of two weeks and gently shift your teeth into a different position. After two weeks, your orthodontist will provide you with a new set to continue to align your teeth until your treatment is complete. Invisalign® work just like braces, but without the brackets and wires, leaving you free to continue work or school with barely anyone realizing that you’re wearing them!
During your treatment with Invisalign, you’ll be able to continue eating and drinking as normal. Aligners pop in and out of your mouth similar to a retainer, and can be removed to eat and drink. You can brush your teeth normally as well, and clean your aligners while you’re at it. To clean them, just take your aligners out and gently brush them before returning them to your mouth. It’s recommended that you wear your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results. If you’re a parent worried about your child wearing their Invisalign® enough, our teen aligners have blue compliance indicators to ensure you stay on top of their treatment.
Invisalign is a great way to improve your smile without braces interrupting your routine. We are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding possible treatment for you or your teen!
